- Promotion of space exploration missions by international cooperation
We will plan and promote more effective and efficient space exploration missions in partnership with space agencies and research institutes across the world. In addition, we will undertake construction of database of observational data by explorers, and research, review, and analysis data with the purpose to "spread space exploration data globally." These data will be effectively utilized to bring out fruitful results by space exploration missions and space science research in the future. JAXA is actively involved in investigation and the international cooperation of GES: Global Exploration Strategy with space agencies around the world. In 2007, 14 space agencies developed a frame work document "GES" which expresses the philosophy of International space exploration coordination.

Now, JAXA and these space agencies are engaged upon ISECG: International Space Exploration Coordination Group and advancing detailed studies.
The Efforts of ISECG: International Space Exploration Coordination Group

The 6th International Space Exploration Coordination Group(ISECG)meeting was held at Kyoto International Conference Center (Kyoto, Japan) in August 2011, and 10 space agencies participated there. JAXA and NASA co- chaired this meeting, and the space agencies discussed the 25 years exploration scenario towards the future human Mars exploration, its common goals and objectives, space system to be developed, space technology to be obtained, and so on. In particular, space agencies agreed with the issue of Global Exploration Roadmap as the pathway to the future human Mars exploration, which consists of the two kinds of approach, one is "Asteroid Next" and the other is "Moon Next. We are planning to commence exchange of views with the communities. In addition, JAXA has taken over the ISECG chairmanship from NASA for a year.
